Histology Manager - Metropolitan Pathologists - Lakewood, CO


  • Bachelor’s degree in the Biological Sciences
  • Successful completion of the ASCP Board of Registry examination and recognized as a HT(ASCP), at a minimum.


  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience in Independent Lab environment.
  • Responsible for meeting applicable regulatory requirements budget and expense objectives to meet company financial goals.
  • Experience in identifying, managing, and reporting quality and compliance risks and gaps.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work accurately with attention to details while meeting deadlines.
  • Proven familiarity with relevant computer applications and programs.


  • Manage Histology specimen preparation and processing areas.
  • Manage Transcription services.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures meet the requirements of applicable licensing and accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain quality assurance/quality control records and documents according to compliance and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and manage effective staffing to meet evolving clinical and business needs.
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting in all areas that involve Histology including Tissue Grossing, Immunohistochemistry
  • Maintain and develop a comprehensive Immunohistochemistry program
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of testing personnel and reporting of test results.
  • Evaluate and improve operational efficiency and workforce productivity.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure optimal operations.
  • Maintain good working relationship with employees, physicians, and outside contacts.
  • Oversee staff & pathology services provided at satellite locations

Research Associate I, Histology - Premier Laboratory, Boulder, CO

About the company:
Premier Laboratory, LLC is a contract, pre-clinical, GLP compliant histology laboratory that specializes in decalcifed bone sections, immunohistochemistry, whole slide digital imaging and image analysis.

Job Description:
The Research Associate-Level I is responsible for supporting the Histology Lab with daily activities, with a primary focus on routine histology and special stains.


  • Printing tissue cassettes and slide labels
  • Grossing, embeding and sectioning tissue
  • Performing Special Stains
  • Cover slipping slides, manual and automated
  • Organizing slides, blocks and tissue samples
  • Reagent preparation
  • General lab upkeep, clean labware
  • Stock supplies (In lab & procedure rooms)
  • Quality Control

Preferably, the ideal candidate will hold an Associates or Bachelors degree in a science related field and may have some work experience (6 months +) within a laboratory environment utilizing histology skills.  Candidates working toward or having a Histotechnologist licence a plus.  Candidate must have excellent time management skills and also pose a willingness to learn new things, with an ability to work within a team atmosphere.
