CSH Awards


Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards


1. The recipient (nominee) must be an active CSH member in good standing (dues paid). 
     (applies to all awards except the following: New Kid on the Block award and Vendor of the Year award).

2. The recipient (nominee) can be nominated by a fellow CSH member in good standing (dues paid) or any non-member.

3. The nominator must submit a brief letter of support (LOS) stating why the recipient (nominee) is deserving of the award.

CSH members and non-members may nominate CSH members for all awards with the exception of the New Kid on the Block and Vendor of the year award, which do not require the nominee to be a member of CSH.

A member may nominate themselves for an award, but they cannot self-nominate for more than one award.

The winner of each award will be the nominee receiving the most number of qualified votes from the general CSH membership and the award will be presented at the annual spring meeting.

If no nominations are submitted for a particular award prior to the nomination deadline then the award will not be presented that year.

Updated nomination criteria for all CSH awards was passed by a majority vote of the CSH board on 2/21/20.


Charles Churukian Excellence in Staining Award ($300)


This award is to honor and remember one of Histology’s outstanding pillars who dedicated his life to the Histological Sciences and to our Society. He was an outstanding mentor, and innovator, and a true Humanitarian. Our Society and the Profession of Histotechnology would not be the same without this remarkable individual. The Charles Churukian Excellence in Staining Award will be presented annually at the CSH spring meeting. It will be given to an individual in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication to the Histological Sciences. The amount of $300 and a plaque will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards.

Dedication to Histology Award ($300)


The Dedication to Histology Award will be presented annually at the CSH spring meeting. It will be given to an individual for their dedication and service to support and promote Histology. The amount of $300 and a plaque will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards.


David J. Davis Histological Education Grant ($500)


This Grant is to be awarded to a member of CSH who has made an exemplary contribution to Colorado state, national, or international histology education. The amount of $500 and a plaque will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards.


Histotech of the Year


This award is given to an outstanding Histologist, whose dedication to the society and histology as a whole is a great benefit and should be recognized for that dedication. A plaque will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards.


















Advanced Lean/Green Technology Award ($350)


This scholarship is to be awarded to a member of CSH who has demonstrated dedication and service to support green/lean lab initiatives, by defining protocols that document and standardize the histology process in order to improve the overall quality, consistency and reproducibility of histology preparations in their laboratory. The amount of $300 and a plaque will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards.


Monte Thompson Memorial Scholarship ($200)


One scholarship will be given for the purpose of continuing education and can be used for any histology meeting expense, college course, teleconference, textbook, examination fee, etc. to further the individual in the field of histotechnology. Preference will be given to students presently involved in the practice of histotechnology or related fields. The amount of $200 and a plaque will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards.


New Kid on the Block Award


This award in the form of a plaque is given to an individual who’s new to our society or the histology field and has proven to be a great asset to our society and the histology field. The award will be presented to a CSH member based on the criteria listed under Nomination Criteria for all CSH Awards with the exception of criterion # 1.

President’s Award








This award in the form of a plaque is given to an individual at the discretion of the president in recognition for their valuable contributions to the society.

Vendor of the Year Award


This award in the form of a plaque is presented to an outstanding sales representative that the society would like to recognize for their dedication to the society and histology.
